The castle was built in 1606-07 by King Christian IV.

Christmas in Tivoli
Every year Tivoli dresses up for Christmas. It's an orgy of light in the darkest time of the year. It's a Christmas market where people are selling hot chocolate, mulled wine, æbleskiver, and candy. Others sell ornaments and other Christmassy things. It's a magical place, and there's no way that you can leave there without being in the Christmas spirit.

Tivoli in the summer is amazing. I've heard it's fantastic at Halloween. But Tivoli at Christmas is just spectacular. I can't recommend it enough if you ever visit Copenhagen or Denmark in December.

Amalienborg Castle
Amalienborg Castle, Copenhagen. It consists of four identical structures like the one in the photo with a square in the middle.
Dannebrog
“Dannebrog,” Copenhagen Harbor. The oldest royal ship still in use. It celebrated its 80th birthday, hence all the flags and people on board.
Noma
Noma. It may not look like much, but it's the world's best restaurant for the third year running.
Copenhagen
One of the Copenhagen canals. The building on the right is the Stock Exchange. The spire is dragon tails winding together, and on the top the three crowns represent the Kalmar Union between Denmark, Norway, and Sweden from 1397 to 1523.
